-4.5% New .ie registrations (2021 v 2020) +6.5% Net growth (on database on 31 December 2020) Analysis of .ie domain database and growth Growth continued in 2021. There were 330,108 .ie domains in the database at the end of 2021, a 6.5% increase on 2020. The database grew by 48.8% on 2016 (five years ago) and 88.9% on 2011 (ten years ago). New registrations increased by 1.7% in H1 2021 compared to H1 2020 but decreased by 10.9% in H2 2021 compared to H2 2020. This can largely be attributed to the difference in the pandemic situation. In H2 2021, unlike the same period in the previous year, restrictions were eased and shops and hospitality businesses generally remained open. Despite the decline in H2 2021 relative to H2 2020, 2021 was the second-best year for new .ie domain registrations on record.
