What is IGF Ireland?

IGF Ireland is a national initiative that follows the principles of the United Nations-led Internet Governance Forum. National initiatives are local fora that gather local internet communities to discuss key internet and digital policy issues facing their local context. This is done in a bottom-up process that must be open and inclusive to all.

NIS2

Ireland, along with 22 other Member States, missed the deadline to transpose NIS2 into national law by 17 October 2024.  To date, there is no word on when we can expect transposition. We are continuing to collaborate with partners, especially government officials in the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications,  and other European ccTLDs, to advocate for new legislation that is harmonised and minimises the regulatory burden on Registrars. We are currently waiting for more information on how NIS2 will be transposed in Ireland. If you have any queries regarding NIS2 requirements, please do not hesitate to contact dmcdermott@weare.ie.

For any questions, please contact dmcdermott@weare.ie.
